Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I discovered behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .

The floorboards were filthy, and a foul smell of stale beer and uncleaned toilets suffused the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of urine , putrefaction and illness . The main bar, which should be the primary feature of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and litter that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape —overflowing , with a cracked flush mechanism and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was feces.

Going through other patrons’ reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the check here level of hygiene (or lack thereof) at this so-called establishment is a well-known flaw .
